The old adage used to say, "August football, I don't know you." On the Rossoblù side of Genoa, they reply: "Let's hope so." Because the 10-1 thrashing Genoa suffered at the hands of Bournemouth inevitably caused quite a stir. Of course, there are a hundred thousand mitigating factors for De Rossi's side: the match was played over four periods, more than one line-up featured youth players, and the English team is several gears ahead at this time of year, not least because they have the Europa League to look forward to. All fair points, but the summer drubbing still stings.
